Republic of the Philippines
House of Representatives
Quezon City, Metro Manila
SEVENTEENTH CONGRESS
1st Regular Session

House Bill No: 1383
Introduced by Congressman Alfredo D. Vargas III

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Teaching is the profession that creates all other professions. But while teachers are genuinely fulfilled in their practice, they also struggle with the financial limitations of their career. Thus, it is only fitting that we reward these individuals with more benefits.

This bill seeks to provide educational benefits to public school teachers by institutionalizing the scholarship grants to them and their children. Through this initiative, public school teachers who have been in active duty for at least two years are eligible to avail of the scholarship grants to enroll in any master’s or post-graduate course. Moreover, their legitimate children shall also be entitled to avail of the scholarship grant which covers pre-school, elementary, secondary, and tertiary education.

Through this bill, not only do we boost the morale and self-esteem of Filipino teachers, but we also contribute to their educational and professional growth. Furthermore, if enacted, this measure may attract more individuals to commit to the profession of teaching.

In view of the foregoing, the passage of this bill is urged.
